Connected Pictures scoops Cannes Gold Dolphin Award
It was an exciting night for Connected Pictures at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards. Connected Pictures scooped the coveted Gold Dolphin Award for its work with ArcelorMittal on the film “We Choose the Safest Way”.
“I am incredibly proud of what the team produced for ArcelorMittal,” says Adam Penny, Managing Director, Connected Pictures “and to have been there to win gold amongst some of the best corporate films in the world. Special praise to Joe Shaw, Director, Georgia Sanders, Producer and Theo Gerlenter, Editor for making an exceptional film about a difficult subject”.
“The right creative treatment and tone can be difficult with a film promoting safety,” continues Penny “too much one way and the film is not emotionally engaging, and too much the other and you can be seen to be glorifying accidents and fatalities”.
ArcelorMittal’s Nicola Davidson, Vice President of Corporate Communication and Corporate responsibility says “We are all delighted with the award that recognises a film about a topic, health and safety, that is ArcelorMittal’s number one priority but that is creatively difficult to address. At the end of the day, this film was made to help save lives and reduce accidents so it must tackle the issue head on, and make people stop and think about what more they can personally do to ensure we work in a truly safe environment at all times. Ensuring a safe working environment for all our employees, every day, takes constant attention and awareness and effective communication has a critical role to play. What Connected Pictures have created, alongside ArcelorMittal’s Ewa Gebala, is a film with a uniquely human approach that resonated deeply with all parts of the company Congratulations to everyone who was involved, including our own employees who volunteered to participate and in doing so, made this film possible”.
The Cannes win was swiftly followed by Best Documentary Award for Hannah at Docfest. Connected Pictures has also been shortlisted for an EVCOM award for brand films for Molton Brown and Travis Perkins respectively.
