Centenary Campaign

BRITISH AIRWAYS
Corporate Affairs
Connected Pictures has worked closely with British Airways for over 10 years – creating interactive documentaries for the launch of the new cabin designs, supporting with customer communications during strike action and the ash cloud events and, more recently, creating communications that celebrate the 2019 centenary and focusing colleagues on the next 10 years of where this flag ship British airline brand is building and growing.

As part of the British Airways Centenary celebrations in 2019 the BA Colleague Orchestra were invited to compose and perform an arrangement of the Flower Duet aria from the opera, Lakmé. This famous duet (in all its forms and variations) has become synonymous with the British Airways brand since its use in the 1989 ‘Face’ television commercial. This ‘reinvention’ of a traditional work represents the forward focused position the brand is taking.

Connected Pictures were asked to capture this process within a short documentary film that was broadcast internally and externally in early 2019 as part of the centenary celebrations. The role of the documentary film within this project was to capture the human emotion behind the brand and more specifically behind the journey taken by the members of the orchestra as they pull together to produce this impactful composition.

Both the build-up and performance films can be seen here.
